You glimpse the green as you zoom down the Big Dipper on the Freeway to Newcastle – steep, hilly countryside with semi rainforest to the water’s edge. Nestled below is a wonderful network of creeks with lots of mangroves – the sea eagles, cormorants, herons and kingfishers who make it their home love the place. Above us is the highest road bridge in Australia - see pic. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore on this quiet part of the mighty Hawkesbury, along with the occasional stately homestead. A relaxing day suitable for kayakers of all experience levels.
